If you are looking to create healthy and delicious smoothies to help you through your day, an oatmeal smoothie can be a great choice. Many people wonder whether smoothies are actually healthy – the answer is that it completely depends on what you’re putting in your smoothie! Here at The Queen of Health we love a healthy and nutritious smoothie; it can give you energy for the day ahead and keep you feeling full for longer. We recommend a breakfast smoothie to get you going for your day, and oats can be the perfect ingredient to do just that. A blend of fruit and oats in the morning is not only yummy but contains enough nutrition to make a great breakfast and takes barely any prep time! Here are a few of our favourite oatmeal smoothie recipes for you to try.

Is an oatmeal smoothie healthy?

Oats contain a range of healthy nutrients, including vitamins and antioxidants that can lower cholesterol and help you to lose weight. Oats are a great addition to any smoothie because they slowly release energy throughout the day, so you don’t have to worry about tiredness kicking in or feeling lethargic while you’re out and about. Oats are a common staple item in our kitchen cupboards, which is why they are such a good recommendation for your smoothie recipe. An oatmeal smoothie is also a little bit thicker and sweeter, for those that prefer that taste.

Do I need to cook oats before putting them in a smoothie?

Oats do not need to be cooked before going into your smoothie, you can simply add them straight in or soak them in water or milk for an hour beforehand for a creamy texture. An oatmeal smoothie can take just minutes to prepare, just add oats to your blender with other ingredients and you will have a delicious oatmeal smoothie to drink before work or take with you. Alternatively, you could prepare your oatmeal smoothie the day before and store it in the fridge.

Which kind of oats are best for smoothies?

Rolled oats are the best option for smoothies because they provide a thicker texture and can be easily blended. These type of oats are also ideal for soaking with milk or water if you are looking for a creamier smoothie recipe. You could also use quick or porridge oats for your morning smoothie; either option tastes great!
